Once a job has been completed and wants to be published as an article, the challenge for the author or authors is to choose the right journal. The selection process will depend on the scope of the work, as is logical, but also on the editorial quality of the journal. The latter is not something minor. Aspects such as the policy and transparent editorial process, the editorial team, and the impact of the publication can be decisive for success. In addition to the formal and the promotion of the magazine itself.

Therefore, when starting a publication process, some aspects must be considered for a work to be received and accepted.

The seriousness and objectivity of the editorial management process. This implies, fundamentally, the availability and visibility of the information that the authors need, the neatness in terms of editing and format, the scientific nature of what is published, and the ethical guarantee of the commitments of authors, reviewers and editors.

The committees or councils of reviewers formed by experts of recognized prestige in each field, from different universities and with an international presence. This guarantees a peer review from professionalism and scientific experience, eliminating in-breed practices, which translates into personalized responses with academic, scientific and objective criteria, whether the work is accepted or rejected.

Punctuality in the different phases of the publication. The acceptance or rejection in the stipulated times and published by the editorial team is another key to the editorial quality of a magazine. It is essential as a rule of respect for the work that is sent and to the person or persons who sign it. Along with this, logically, complying with the dates of publication and diffussion is another parameter that is most evaluated in the face of the good work of a journal.

The impact and prestige. The evaluation processes that are followed in the scientific community have highlighted the impact dimension of the publications. For this reason, journals make an effort to be indexed and this depends to a large extent on their good editorial practices, as well as the scientific validity of the works, the diffusion, and the visibility of these. In this way authors and editors are needed. Hence, a good editorial policy takes into account the relevance, progress and originality in the results and contributions of the texts that they receive.

Comunicar is aware of the importance of editorial quality, fulfilling a series of indicators: impact and prestige, visibility and access, punctuality and seriousness, rigourness of the process, ethics and commitment, editorial management, scientific community, emerging technologies, originality and progress, and the author as maximum.

  2. I believe that the first and the most important step before starting writing the article is selecting the journal. Once you identify that your manuscript has the scope requirements, as author you should read carefully the guidelines for authors in order not to miss any single detail; in the same way to be aware of the process developed to select the articles.
